The Media Law Forum conducted a Sinhala-language workshop in Bandarawela on 14 March 2026, focusing on digital rights and collaborative strategies for media and legal professionals to address misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation in the online environment. The session brought together journalists and lawyers to explore how responsible communication and ethical digital practices can strengthen public trust and uphold media integrity.
Participants examined the risks posed by false and misleading content and discussed practical approaches for detecting, mitigating, and responding to harmful information online. The workshop also emphasized the crucial role of media and legal practitioners in fostering a safe, accountable, and transparent digital environment.
Guided by Shan Vijethunga and Dr. Viranjana Herath, attendees actively engaged in interactive discussions, shared professional experiences, and reflected on strategies to navigate real-world information challenges. By the conclusion of the session, participants had gained enhanced knowledge, practical tools, and professional networks to support responsible and informed engagement in digital spaces.
