The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights at the University of Oxford will launch the third edition of their Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Freedom of Expression for Judicial Actors on 5 October 2026.
The free, global online course is designed for judges, prosecutors, lawyers, members of judicial training institutions, law students, and other members of the judicial community. The course builds on the participation of more than 11,000 judicial actors in previous editions.
The five-week course will explore the international legal framework governing freedom of expression, access to information, the safety of journalists, and the implications of emerging digital technologies and legal threats to journalists.
The MOOC will be available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. There are no prerequisites for enrollment, and participants who successfully complete all modules and quizzes will receive a certificate of achievement from UNESCO and the University of Oxford.
