The Bill titled “Chartered Institute of Media Professionals of Sri Lanka Bill”, which seeks to provide for the establishment of the Chartered Institute of Media Professionals of Sri Lanka with a view to introducing and maintaining professional standards for media professionals and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto, was published in the Gazette Extraordinary dated 5 June 2026 by order of the Minister of Health and Mass Media, Hon. Nalinda Jayatissa.
The proposed legislation seeks to establish a statutory body aimed at regulating and maintaining professional standards within the media sector.
