On April 29, 2025, the Media Law Forum conducted a specialized information session for News Center, one of Sri Lanka’s most trusted and influential digital news platforms. The session was designed to address the evolving challenges faced by digital-first media in applying the revised election media guidelines for the 2025 local government elections.
Acknowledging News Center’s commitment to independent, ethical, and accurate journalism, expert facilitators from the Forum introduced advanced practices for monitoring campaign finance in political advertising on social media. The session also explored responsible applications of generative AI in fast-paced digital newsrooms, reinforcing the importance of maintaining credibility and transparency in emerging content formats.
This initiative, funded by the European Union in collaboration with DRI and Factum, reflects the Media Law Forum’s broader mission to enhance digital media integrity and support democratic discourse in Sri Lanka.
