Networking Event in Vavuniya : Workshop Designed to address Critical Issues Related to Freedom of Expression in the Country

The Media Law Forum recently orchestrated a networking event in Vavuniya, Sri Lanka, with a specific focus on the Northern Province.

Conducted on the evening of November 5, 2023, the workshop was designed to address critical issues related to freedom of expression in the country.

The primary goal of the event was to establish a platform for journalists to connect, collaborate, and advocate for their rights, with particular attention to the diverse community of journalists and media activists in the Northern Province, specifically Tamil journalists and media activists.

This workshop’s central objective was to address repressive legislation, provide insights into legal protections and guarantees, and offer guidance on navigating both legally and politically challenging environments.

It is noteworthy that this program received funding from Internews, further emphasizing the commitment to fostering an environment conducive to the protection and promotion of media freedom.
