The Media Law Forum conducted a specialized information session with digital media platform News 19 on 25.04.2025. The session addressed the unique challenges faced by digital and social media platforms in implementing the revised election media guidelines for Sri Lanka’s upcoming local government elections. Expert facilitators provided News 19’s digital journalists with advanced tools for monitoring campaign finance in social media political advertising and guided them on responsible generative AI implementation in fast-paced digital newsrooms. Interactive workshops focused on digital verification techniques to counter election-related misinformation and online hate speech in real-time publishing environments. This digital media-specific approach represents the Media Law Forum’s commitment to strengthening Sri Lanka’s diverse media landscape, funded by European Union funding in partnership with DRI and Factum.
